On Monday, the Bulldog Cross Country program was chosen as one of the 25 nation-wide recipients of the 2019 BrooksRunning.com Booster Club award. The Bald Knob School District, its Board of Education, and Superintendent of Schools, Ms. Melissa Gipson, is pleased to announce the addition of a free, second chance breakfast for middle school students beginning in August of the 2019-2020 school year. Students in 6th-8th grades will be granted this daily opportunity after their first-period class. High school students will continue to profit from this opportunity after their second-period class.
5th grade students, teachers and parents enjoyed spending four days in Biloxi, MS attending Ocean Camp. Students learned how to rescue, rehabilitate and release sea turtles and dolphins. They practiced pollution control by cleaning a section of the beach while learning how to seine using nets to catch and identify various sea creatures. These students and families represented Bald Knob proudly.
The Bald Knob Health Service office applied and was awarded a Mini-Grant from the Blue & You Foundation. The grant money was used by the nursing staff to purchase Stop the Bleed Kits. The grant allowed enough supplies to placed throughout our campus with each AED station. We are pleased to say this grant will also allow our community access to supplies by placing a Stop the Bleed station in the district safe room. Thank You, Blue & You!

Congratulations to the Bulldog Track and Field team for winning its sixth consecutive District Title on Tuesday. The Lady Bulldogs were dominate, as well, earning runner-up honors. Sophomore Josh Clark was name the meet's top scorer.

The 2019 JAG classes visited the Innovation Hub in Little Rock to learn from experts about the tools and skills necessary to become an innovator and entrepreneur. Students designed T-shirts using screen printing techniques while others created video games. While touring the facility, they learned about the classes offered in carpentry, welding, graphic design, laser cutting and more. Students gained valuable job training, preparing them to navigate the challenges of the modern workforce.

Today’s baseball games have been moved to Riverview due to wet field conditions. Senior night for baseball will be rescheduled for April 19th. The softball games and softball senior night will still take place at Bald Knob this evening.

The Lady Bulldogs shut out the hosts 7-0 in the championship game of the tournament behind a combined 1-hit pitching effort of seniors Kinlee Varnell and Rylee Curd. The offense was aided by freshman Madyson Shoebottom’s solo home run and senior Anna Bradley’s three-run bomb to deep center. Congratulations on a fantastic day of softball, ladies.

We had so much fun celebrating Read Across America! H.L. Lubker Elementary had many book characters on campus, classes enjoyed "BOOKING" each other with a good book, and we topped off the day with Dr. Seuss cupcake!

Due to the road conditions caused by flooding, the Bald Knob School District will be closed on Tuesday, February 12th. This will be considered AMI day 1. We will be uploading a video to our district’s facebook page explaining the AMI process. We will still have parent teacher conferences from 3:00-6:30 Tuesday evening. We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause but we feel like this is in the best interest of our students’ safety.
Parent teacher conferences will be held Tuesday, February 12th from 3:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.. Middle school and high school students will be dismissed from school at 2:25 p.m. H.L. Lubker Elementary will dismiss at 2:35 p.m.
Bus 32 and Bus 16 will be on flood routes until further notice.
Due to water levels rising, bus 32 will be running its flood route on Monday morning. We will monitor water levels throughout the day to determine if the afternoon route will run its normal course.

We have a change to the schedule for tomorrow's games at Harding Academy. Harding will be running 2 gyms simultaneously with the Sr. Girls B team and 7th grade boys playing at 5:30. The Sr. Boys B team and the 7th grade girls games will follow. Both gyms are in the same facility so fans can walk back and forth between games.

This evening Bald Knob School District administration received a report of an individual with a gun on campus grounds after school hours. Upon investigation, no gun was found on the alleged individual, and the individual was escorted off campus immediately. District administration will remain diligent to ensure the safety of all students.

The BK Counseling Department is sponsoring the second annual "Blessings from BK" fundraiser. This year we are raising funds for the BK Senior Citizens Center. Change will be collected in each building Nov. 26-30. Flyers will be sent home this week with more information.

The elementary science and social studies curriculum night that was scheduled for November 6th has been cancelled. We will host the event at a later date.
Fifth grade students went on a field trip to the Toltec Mounds; this field trip aligns with their curriculum for the studies of Pre-Columbian societies. While there, students learned about the ceremonies, life, and early culture of the Plum Bayou people. Students were able to participate in the crafts of pottery and creating their own arrowhead necklace. They also participated in an archaeological mock dig.

Braden Davis (1st), Tayden Hamrick (7th), and Mya Ragsdale (15th) each earned individual medalist honors at today’s cross country meet at Quitman. In addition, the junior girls finished as the runners-up while the junior boys secured 4th place overall. Congratulations to the athletes and Coach Ragsdale.
Courtesy of the Bald Knob Public Education Foundation, Inc., students at H.L. Lubker Elementary now have the chance to experience new learning opportunities with two academic enrichment grants. Sheila Martin, Chair, and Kellie Smith, Director of the BKPEF, presented the awards. Teresa Johnson, the elementary counselor, received $1,044 for playground activities, and Bridget Pate, a 5th-grade science teacher, received $950 for robots in her classroom. With these generous contributions, students can engage in both educational and enjoyable activities.
